The Mythic North
(for Outcast Silver Raiders)
From Esoteric Ludology
“The Cult of the Ram began as an operation solely dedicated to smuggling wool, with a drawing of a ram’s head used as graffiti to pass messages to their agents. In time the Cult has grown to become a sophisticated clandestine criminal organization, with ties to the church, operations in every major settlement, and a few permanent bases of operation.”
The Cult of the Ram, pg. 25

Torchlight Score: 4/5 – Bright
Widely acclaimed as one of the best OSR setting and adventure campaigns, this “mammoth-sized” book delivers over 300 pages of gameable content. Reviewers call it “absolutely packed” and “one of my faves of the last year or two.” Its low-magic, alternate medieval Scotland setting thrives on intricate factions, detailed towns, and unique story-driven encounters.
The striking red-black-white art style, praised as “jaw-dropping” and “incredible,” captures a blood-drenched occult vision, though some find it hinders readability. Even so, the scope, quality, and adaptability of The Mythic North make it a standout resource for any OSR campaign.

The Mythic North is the largest of the three “Outcast Silver Raiders” hardcovers—a 320-page, full-color campaign book with matte finish, ribbon bookmark, and over 50 hand-drawn maps.
It presents a richly detailed hex-crawl rooted in low-magic, alternate medieval Scotland (c. 1200 CE). Magic is secret and perilous, wizards are the stuff of legend, and the Church dominates a society where the gentry’s rule is divinely sanctioned.
The setting avoids traditional fantasy races, centering on a human world where monsters linger mostly in legend. Inside are six interwoven factions, 10 towns, 88 story-driven encounters, and 30 mapped locations—including multi-level dungeons and a mega-dungeon. Designed for low-prep, emergent storytelling, it equips GMs to immerse players quickly in a cohesive, atmospheric world.
